Patient Care

Patient Care

Patient care is the central responsibility of nursing and healthcare services. It refers to the systematic, compassionate, and safe care provided to a person who is ill, injured, recovering from a disease, undergoing treatment, or requiring assistance with daily activities.

Patient care is not limited to giving medicines or performing medical procedures. It includes meeting the patient's physical, psychological, social, emotional, cultural, and spiritual needs while maintaining dignity, privacy, comfort, and safety.
A nurse plays an important role in observing the patient's condition, identifying needs, providing basic and specialized care, preventing complications, administering prescribed treatment, educating the patient and family, and coordinating with other members of the healthcare team.
