ICU Care

Intensive Care Unit (ICU) care refers to the specialized care provided to critically ill patients who require continuous monitoring, advanced treatment, and close nursing observation. ICU patients may have severe or life-threatening problems involving the respiratory, cardiovascular, neurological, renal, or other body systems.

ICU nursing requires a high level of knowledge, clinical observation, technical skill, communication, and teamwork. The ICU nurse continuously assesses the patient's condition, identifies deterioration early, assists with complex treatments, prevents complications, maintains patient safety, and supports the patient and family.
The major aim of ICU care is to maintain vital organ function, treat the underlying illness, prevent complications, promote recovery, and provide safe, compassionate, patient-centered care.
