Elderly Care

Elderly care, also called geriatric care, refers to the comprehensive care provided to older adults to maintain their health, independence, dignity, safety, comfort, and quality of life. Aging is a natural process, but physiological changes associated with aging can increase the risk of illness, disability, falls, malnutrition, social isolation, and dependence on others.

Nurses and caregivers play an important role in supporting older adults. Elderly care should be holistic and individualized, addressing physical, psychological, social, emotional, and spiritual needs.
The goal is not simply to treat disease but to help the older person remain as independent, active, safe, and comfortable as possible.
